Kino is a digital video editor for Linux. It captures video over firewire using DVGrab. It's probably nowhere near as good as Mac people have but then again it is free* and suits my needs fine. I capture from a Sony Handycam, edit the clips a bit, and then encode to MPEG.
For some reason the screen is blue in the screenshot even though a movie was playing. You'll just have to trust me ....* As in speech AND beer!
